  • Rookie continues to impress

An entry in Ryan's notebook by Ryan Robinson, Yesterday, 04:30 PM

Rookie defensive tackle Terrance Knighton has been a steady force in the middle of the Jaguars defense. Knighton, one of two rookies to start all seven games, had a career-high 10 tackles last Sunday at Tennessee. "He's done a nice job," Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said. "He's stout in the middle, he's got good balance, he's got good body control, and he uses his hands. I think he's mature beyond his years. I really feel good about him in there."   Triple threat Fourth-round draft pick Mike Thomas was inactive for the first two weeks of the season but has become a vital part of the club's offense the last five games. Thomas has 18 receptions for 176 yards and seven rushes for 52 yards including a long of 22. He led the team with four receptions for 55 yards last Sunday at Tennessee including catches of 25 and 21 yards. He had a career-high seven receptions for 52 yards in week six against St. Louis including a 28-yard reception on the club's... Read more...

An entry in Inside the Business by Bill Prescott, Yesterday, 03:39 PM

We had the opportunity to celebrate my oldest son's 30th birthday this weekend. It was a time to reflect over the past 30 years. Sports has always been a common bond between us, and fortunately I like to think through no small influence on my part, we have the same favorite teams. As someone involved in the sports business, it has been interesting to watch the change of how he consumes sports compared to when I was growing up. In my era, your loyalty to was to your team and the players on it. I could tell you the starting lineup for my favorite team, and my favorite player was always on that team. The team and player were synonymous with one another. Enter free agency and all that has changed. My son was playing Madden one weekend as the Jaguars. I was watching him play and quickly realized that most of the players he had on the Jaguars were from other teams. When I asked him why it was not the same players as the Jaguars roster, he informed me that he had traded or signed free... Read more...

  • While the vision of a Bye Week for most players, staff and fans is one of rest and relaxation, there is a dark side of football that few ever see. Deep under the teal seats of the stadium is the Athletic Training Room where the injured players spend a good part of the Bye weekend.  The healthy players are off visiting friend and family while the players with injuries have work to do.  It's not a fun weekend for the players that have mandatory rehab or for the athletic trainers who are still working to help these players.  With that being said, this is a very important weekend for the Jags because this is a weekend where we can get the necessary work to make our team better. I learned a long time ago as a teenager in Massachusetts working at a state forest cleaning bathrooms and picking up trash for the summer that with everything in life, there is always going to be someone working hard behind the scenes.  Whether it is the food on the plate or the car you... • Jaguars offensive tackle Tony Pashos and several of his teammates used their "off day" on Monday to spread some holiday cheer to several children in the area. Pashos joined 10 of his teammates for a special visit to Wolfson Children's Hospital to hand out gifts for the more than 75 children that won't be spending the holidays at home. Following the hospital visit, Pashos hosted 12 children from Guardian Ad Litem in Jacksonville at Applebee's in St. John's Town Center for dinner, and then he took the group on a shopping spree at Dick's Sporting Goods. The event was one of the monthly outings Pashos hosts with the Pashos Pals group he started in 2007.
