Book signals season is upon us
An entry in Ryan's notebook by Ryan Robinson, Jul 6 2010, 10:21 AMYou know the NFL season is right around the corner when the annual NFL Record and Fact Book arrives. This year's book features Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees on the cover and is loaded with information concerning the NFL. It's a must for every diehard NFL fan. We are less than a month away from the Jaguars' first training camp practice, and the opener against Denver on September 12 seems to be right around the corner. I can't take it anymore. Let's dive in the book and take a look at some of the places the Jaguars are mentioned. 2011 Schedule I know we have to play the 2010 season first but let's fast forward for a minute. The Jaguars 2011 schedule will look like this: Home games: Indianapolis, Houston, Tennessee, Baltimore, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, AFC West opponent Away games: Indianapolis, Houston, Tennessee, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Carolina, AFC East opponent Moving his way up Jaguars running back Maurice... Fill the General Bowl in 2010
An entry in Inside the Business by Bill Prescott, Feb 11 2010, 03:24 PMAs I described in "Local Economics" on this blog, in today's NFL a small market team must maximize its local revenue to be competitive on the football field. All sources of local revenue must be maximized, but as an organization you must first prioritize what will provide the most benefit over as many revenue streams as possible. For the Jaguars in 2010, the priority is filling the general bowl. It is no coincidence that Touchdown Jacksonville and Team Teal are focusing on the same area. Filling the general bowl not only generates ticket revenue, but more importantly gets our games on television. Whether or not our home games are on local television does not impact our national TV revenue in the short-term. In the long-term, sustained blackouts could affect the national contracts when they are up for renewal. Home games being on TV is important in cultivating our fans of the future. How many of our current ticket owners grew up watching Jaguars football on TV, and became... Read more...

Ticketholders at the Pro Bowl ...
An entry in jaguars.com Blog by jaguars.com, Feb 1 2010, 02:12 PMThe following is a blog from Jaguars season-ticket holder Aaron Resnick. Aaron was one of two season ticket holders chosen to attend the Pro Bowl with Maurice Jones-Drew. Yesterday was game day and my dad and I had another awesome experience. In the morning we visited South Beach. ESPN and the NFL Network had their temporary stages set up but not much was going on then. We walked around and took a few pictures before heading back to Ft. Lauderdale. At the player hotel I ended up meeting Jared Allen, Logan Mankins, La'Ron McClain, Josh Cribbs, Johnny Knox and Mike Jenkins. Jenkins and I talked about USF as that is one of the colleges I am considering and he is the school's first ever representative at the Pro Bowl. The player busses left around 4:30 PM and we headed to the stadium as well. It is a good thing we headed out early as the traffic around the stadium for parking was terrible. Eventually we along with many others parked at a dog track that... Read more...

No Rest for the Injured
An entry in Mike Ryan's Sports Medicine Corner by Mike Ryan, Oct 23 2009, 03:33 PMWhile the vision of a Bye Week for most players, staff and fans is one of rest and relaxation, there is a dark side of football that few ever see. Deep under the teal seats of the stadium is the Athletic Training Room where the injured players spend a good part of the Bye weekend. The healthy players are off visiting friend and family while the players with injuries have work to do. It's not a fun weekend for the players that have mandatory rehab or for the athletic trainers who are still working to help these players. With that being said, this is a very important weekend for the Jags because this is a weekend where we can get the necessary work to make our team better. I learned a long time ago as a teenager in Massachusetts working at a state forest cleaning bathrooms and picking up trash for the summer that with everything in life, there is always going to be someone working hard behind the scenes. Whether it is the food on the plate or the car you... Read more...

Celebrating the holidays
An entry in Jaguars in the Community by Jaguars Community, Dec 24 2008, 09:19 AMJaguars offensive tackle Tony Pashos and several of his teammates used their "off day" on Monday to spread some holiday cheer to several children in the area. Pashos joined 10 of his teammates for a special visit to Wolfson Children's Hospital to hand out gifts for the more than 75 children that won't be spending the holidays at home. Following the hospital visit, Pashos hosted 12 children from Guardian Ad Litem in Jacksonville at Applebee's in St. John's Town Center for dinner, and then he took the group on a shopping spree at Dick's Sporting Goods. The event was one of the monthly outings Pashos hosts with the Pashos Pals group he started in 2007.
